LjurhallaFabriken is a non-profit organisation and meeting place for art, design and craft, based within a 1930s factory and surrounding forest in rural Vårgårda, Sweden.

Founded in 2021 by artist Rachel Barron and child culture designer Nathan Clydesdale, LjurhallaFabriken supports community building, resource sharing, artistic practice and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The site comprises a 250 sqm factory, originally built in 1938 by manufacturer Ivar Ekman to produce threshing machines and agricultural machinery. A major renovation, designed by Fabel Arkitektur, has transformed the building into a flexible infrastructure to support different types of meetings, workshops, exhibitions, events and gatherings. Two artist residency spaces have recently been completed on site, in collaboration with Skogen, Gothenburg.

LjurhallaFabriken has been made possible with generous support from Kulturbryggan, Sparbanksstiftelsen Alingsås, Boverket, Leader Sjuhärad, Västra Götalandsregion, Boråsregion and Vårgårda municipality as well as the ongoing engagement of the local community. Thank you!
